Hello my dear, there you are growing inside your mum, gently reminding her of your presence. I am your dad and I am very proud to be. The first time this realization hit me I had just woken from a deep slumber somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, the home, travel route, playground and destiny of your ancestors, your mum and dad. I know this kind of makes three of them but you will one day understand that and that love is more important than anything else in this world and thus it transcends all conventions and rules laid out by some but not all generations before us.
Your dad is a bit of a softie yet he is hardly ever moved to tears by real life events. A letter your mum penned when I was running around the house hastily preparing for my departure some weeks ago made me shed tears like rain because of its sheer power of love, care, tenderness and poetry. Then there were others, lots of others actually that had the same effect like the wonderful words she typed on her little iPad I (you will have these in a museum when you are grown up or you may even own a legacy iPad that will be soo retro!)
If you are a boy, please don’t tell the others your mum makes your dad cry time and again with emotion and happiness, just in case I will have to be the bad cop to someone who bullies you one day.
If you are a girl i just know you will be even stronger than a man, strong, positive, fair and above all honest like you mother – a woman like no other. It was her honesty that so struck me and I was never let down by it to this day.
Having your Mum’s guardian angel making your parent’s paths cross was the best thing that ever happened to me and it is my hope the three of us and you will be the fruit of it – for that i am so grateful and i can’t wait to hold you in my arms.
So long, until my next post. I love you like i love your Mum.
Your Dad
